Borders 1.0

Borders is a rather relevant although somewhat controversial art like game where you play as a Mexican trying to cross the border in to the United States. The game uses a low poly 2D style and is very simple in its game play but this actually works to its advantage and surprisingly especially as the developer is so keen to make this clear it’s an art project, although that may be more to avoid backlash from the racial element rather than an excuse for poor play and the game plays really well, it’s almost a retro throwback to games of days gone by, it’s also challenging and provides a good amount of entertainment.

The aim of the game is to cross the barren desert land which is patrolled by border guards and helicopters and if you get within the lit area around them you will be finished, you will also need to collect water bottles as if you run out of water that will also mean your demise.

Borders best asset is its surprisingly addictive game play, making something that looks and plays so simply in to such an excellent game is no mean feat and although looks wise it might be nothing special, although pixel art is on the rise it can occasion lack in detail but that becomes irrelevant when you realize what a good time you are having playing the game.
