Rage in Piece 1.0

Rage in Peace prototype demo is a brilliant, addictive gorgeously animated yet incredibly frustrating game. The premise you play a man named Timothy Maliu who has always dreamed of dying peacefully in his bed, after an encounter with the Grim Reaper in an elevator he learns that this is possible but only if he is able to cheat death throughout the day, and there is going to be a lot of obstacles he is going to have to overcome to see his dream come to fruition.

Although primarily a platform game Rage in Peace is also a memory game and you will die repeatedly as you learn where each obstacle and trap awaits for you and have to start again hoping to remember the way to avoid the last thing that has killed you whether it be spikes that randomly pop up from the ground without warning falling glass frames or disembodied Maoi heads riding on chairs you’ll need to memorize exactly how and where you met your end the first time round to make sure you can avoid the same fate the next time. Thankfully the checkpoints at least early on aren’t spaced too far apart but there’s a reason that Rage is in the title of the game and it won’t take long before you become frustrated with constantly dying however the developers have found a perfect balance and the game is fun enough that you will want to keep trying even after you’ve died 100 times. The Intro to the game is also beautifully made and really makes you appreciate the protagonist especially with the emotional music punctuating it.

Rage in Peace is a fantastic little game and it will be great to see how it develops from this in to full game, you can download the demo here for free.
