Apocalypse games are pretty run of the mill after Fallout popularized it nowadays, but surprisingly, there aren't that many strategy games that feature the post-apocalypse setting. Sure, there are a couple such as They are Billions, but apocalyptic strategy games are still a surprising rarity. That's why The Last Spell: Prologue is such a breath of fresh air.
To install The Last Spell: Prologue, make sure you have Steam installed. Then, go to this link to install the game.
The story and setup of the game is bleak. Because there has been total war for the past few decades, mages desperately tried to end it all by provoking the cataclysm. This caused massive balls of pure magic to destroy almost everything, and left a purple mist behind. Anybody who entered the mist were killed, driven mad, or mutated. Now, you're in control of one of the last cities in the world called a haven.
You have to manage the city during the day. You'll have to choose how to rebuild your city and how you'll position your defenses. You have a limited amount of resources and you'll have to make hard choices. Do you want to buy equipment or do you want to buy a building that will help regenerate precious resources in between days? At night, the monsters will come at your walls, and you'll have to use your mortal heroes to defend the city.
All in all, this is a very engaging demo. The Last Spell: Prologue is a great peek at what's to come.
